Our Story
“UTRINQUE PARATUS” IS THE MOTTO OF THE BRITISH PARACHUTE REGIMENT AND IT MEANS “READY FOR ANYTHING”
Under fire from an unseen and unknown enemy in a ditch in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, the founder of Airborne Fit, Luke Read, a young British Paratrooper serving at the time for his country had a realisation. Looking at his Airborne brothers, he knew all the years of disciplined Paratrooper training they had undergone together were in preparation for this moment. They were ‘ready for anything’ and together they would prevail.
This clarity of thought led Luke to the belief that with the right training, help and support to build both physical and mental strength, everyone could be ready for any challenge.
On leaving the Elite 2nd battalion of the Parachute Regiment, Luke trained as a Personal Trainer and developed his own style of unique fitness programmes. In collaboration with businessman Andrew Jay and Michael Jennings, Airborne Fit was founded. This has allowed more people to become fitter, faster and stronger together, the motto for Airborne Fit today.
This concept is reflected in the logo which incorporates the Parachute Regiment badge and American wings, alongside a star representing lost friends.
TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER
“Airborne has seriously changed my life and set me on a new path of self-belief.”
BEING FIT IS ONE THING
BEING FIT FOR GOOD REASON IS ANOTHER
The extraordinary collective spirit and strength of Airborne Fit stretches beyond attending classes and stepping on the gym floor.
We change members perceptions of themselves, guiding and inspiring them through their individual journeys and giving them the confidence to tackle wider events and challenges.
There’s a reason why we are always there for each other because together, anything feels possible.
Airborne Fit members have shown this time and time again, achieving incredible things alone, and as a group.
Because when you’re doing the right things, with the right people and for the right reasons, not just for yourself but for the good of others, there’s a spike in effort.
…IN THE GREAT OUTDOORS
Airborne is adventure and unforgettable, life-changing experiences. We run multiple trips yearly to climb the UKs toughest mountains together, including the National Three Peaks, The Lake District, Yorkshire Three Peaks and Snowdonia. We see members who previously called challenges like this ‘impossible’ smash their expectations surrounded by like-minded, supportive people.
…EVENTS THAT SHAPE YOU
Airborne encourages you to get outside of your comfort zone; physically and mentally. This could be when taking part in one of our in-house fitness competitions or attending our Parachute Regiment Fitness Weekend. Run by serving and ex-soldiers, this military-inspired weekend takes place at a remote location in Suffolk. Here, you will push past your limits to help you better understand who you truly are and what you are really capable of.
…RAISING MONEY FOR GOOD CAUSES
Airborne is making a difference. Physical challenges to raise funds for charities close to our heart forms a big part of what Airborne Fit is about. Over the years, we have raised £30,000 for a young girl living with cerebral palsy, £12,000 for the Neo-Natal Unit at Ipswich Hospital, £4,000 for Men’s Mental Health Awareness and £3,000 for local schools.
